In the Boy’s Singles event Jude Blackman and Andrew Brownlie both won bronze medals.
In the Boy’s Doubles event Andrew, partnered by Luke Bailey, added a silver to his medals’ tally.
The best result of the day came in the Girl’s Doubles event where Elysia Taylor, partnered by Natasha Lado, won a gold medal.

Zach Russ and brother Jonty Russ competed in the Langenfeld Cup, the first major junior international of the year held in Germany from 22nd to 24th August, 2014.
Playing in the U17 age group, Jonty and partner bowed out in the last 16 of the level doubles and will have learnt much from their first international together.
Competing in the U15 age group, Zach Russ had an impressive tournament coming home with 2 golds and a bronze. He started with a bronze in the mixed with Derby PC’s Grace King after losing out to the top seeds. He then took gold with Harry Huang in the level doubles, beating the top seeds in the final.
His gold run in the singles was perhaps the most impressive. Seeded 5/8, he proved the seedings wrong, beating the first, second and third seeds on his way to victory with a 21 9 21 13 win against the top seed in the final.
Zach’s 21-7 21-19 quarter final victory over France’s Arnaud Merkle can be viewed below.
A huge ‘thanks’ goes to Dean for coaching in Langenfeld.

Representing England at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Horsham Performance Centre’s fitness coach, Jade Lally, won a bronze medal in the Women’s Discus event.
Finishing fifth in the qualification round, Jade’s throw of 57.12m earned automatic qualification for the final.
In the first round of the final, Jade opened her account with a throw of 57.69m.
She then improved on this in round two, throwing a season’s best 59.56m.
A further improvement in round three saw her throw 59.98m. This moved her into second place behind Australia’s Dani Samuels.
A slightly shorter throw of 57.49m in round four left her in second place going into the final round.
Jade summoned her strength and drew on her experience to throw 60.48m in the fifth, and final, round, a further improvement on her season’s best and just 28cm short of her personal best of 60.76m. India’s Seema Punia then threw 61.61m to move up into second, leaving Jade in third place with the bronze medal.
Congratulations go to Jade from all of us at the Horsham Performance Centre. A stunning performance to win a Commonwealth Games bronze. Well done!
